A Kingdom of Gems

Gem Kingdom started in the 1990's in Amsterdam the Netherlands of which the owners wanted a jewelery line that consisted of unusual materials together with an original style. Sterling silver, semi-precious stones, mother of pearl, porcelain, wood, Swarovski Cristal and polyester are some of those materials.

The pieces are all created by hand and with the best materials available. There is a men's and a women's rage but also ornaments are unusual pieces for the home, couture pieces and collector's items. With all the love, care and materials used, Gem Kingdom really creates an individual unique pieces. And this scull ring is one of my favorites.

Simplicity wins it at the Golden Globes

The best-dressed celebrities at Sunday's Golden Globes got the message that simpler is almost always better when it comes to red carpet dressing. Simple also happens to be what's new in fashion now, with "minimalism" being the watchword for the last two runway seasons. There was lots more colour and neutral pallets than previous years. However there were quite allot of disappointing dresses too, which you will be able to kind of guess by the stars that haven't made the cut in this list.
Olivia Wilde wore a gorgeous Marchesa dress. This was the only over the top dress on that carpet and it worked. The gradually fading sparkle is just magical.
Clare Danes wins the minimalism award. This Calvin Klein dress is stunning and the colour is so Spring/Summer 2011. She looks like spring already.
Another genius Calvin Klein creation and Emma Stone looks amazing in it. The peach colour is just gorgeous and accessorized with just a simple gold clutch is perfection.

At first I didn't recognise Sandra Bullock through that fringe! But it looks great on her and the simple but detailed nude dress is just stunning on her.
Rachel Zoe just can't go wrong with Anne Hathaway matched up with a gorgeous Armani Prive gown. Again simple, with and edge but oh so glamorous.
Angelina, another simple but oh so glamorous moment. It did look allot like Anne's gown but who cares it was green and fierce, Versace did an amazing job.
The Welsh beauty Kathrine Zeta-Jones looked absolutely breathtaking in this emerald green gown by Monique Lhuillier. Elegant, glamorous, beautiful, no words...
Last but not least Eva Longoria. She looked so sophisticated in this minimalistic black Zac Posen gown. Fitted her like a glove and made her the creme de la creme of the red carpet.

Spring/Summer Louis Vuitton Jewellery Adds

Take a sneak peak at the new pictures from Louis Vuitton's spring/summer 2011 fashion jewellery shoot, modelled by an international selection of new 'it' girls. Including Alexandra Richards, daughter of rock legend Keith Richards, DJ, artist and model from New York and Clara 3000, a DJ from Paris. I really love the monogram tooth pendant she's wearing.

Look of the day

Frankie Sandford from girl band The Saturdays looks top to toe ab fab in her LBD and over sized blazer. Loving the grey tone bag too.

Brasil

There are two things in my life that I love dearly and are something that makes rainy days like these a little better. That is Brazilian music and of course their signature drink a Caipirinha. A site that has combined these is Leblon Cachaca. I posts the best and up and coming Brazilian artists, one of my favorites being Forro. Also check the site for Delicious recipes with Cachaca.
This post of course goes out to all the people in Brazil affected by the terrible mudslides. I've been lucky enough to visit Brazil and Rio de Janeiro a couple of times and it remains one of my favorite places in the world.

Wet weather companion

For the last couple of days it has been raining cat's and dogs here in the UK. I don't even want to leave the house it's that horrible. But obviously I would if I had a pair of Hunter Wellies. Looking at their collection and all the different models and colours I would be very happy with just a pair of black ones like these Regent Neoprene ones.

But if you wanted to go a bit more extravagant. Then you need to go for the Jimmy Choo croc skin version. Amazing...

Sneak Peak

Very excited to be able to show you a sneak peak of Victoria Beckhams new sunglasses line. I have to admit that I was a huge Spice Girls fan back in the day and she was always my favorite. I think she is a style icon (we'll forgive her for Baden-Baden) and is someone I will follow with great admiration.

Guilty Pleasure

If I have one guilty pleasure it would not be shoes, handbags or clothes, no, it would be macaroons. They are very hard to get it my part of the world so when I do it is a real treat. The most amazing ones are from Laduree Paris. But you can get lovely ones from good bakers too. So you can guess where I go every time I go to Paris. And just like the high street fashion stores Laduree do designer collaborations too. 2010 was the year of one of my favorite designers John Galliano, I just wish I was able to get my hands on one of those boxes!

Never Judge a Book by it's Cover

My boyfriend and I have recently purchased our very first wall to wall book case, he has a hell of allot of novels. Myself, I have allot of art and fashion books that belong on a big beautiful coffee table, still looking for that though. To make the appearance of the books on the shelves even more pleasing to the eye look into collecting the Penguin Classics designed by Coralie Bickford-Smith.
I also love the look of the graphic designs David Pearson has done for them too. Even though I'm not the biggest reading fan these covers beg to be picked up and flicked through.

Something I would love to do is what was done to the book case in Chotda's living room. But my boyfriend would kill me, he's all about the alphabetical order, damn it!

Just my cup of tea

Putting together your own tea set, looking for a different gift for a good friend then stop shopping the high street for it and hit the quircky second hand-, antique- and don't forget the charity shops. Here you can pick up the most beautiful tea cups and sausers for a fraction of the price. And don't be afraid to mix and match them to make them more unique. Also, don't be affraid to use them, it makes eveytime you have a cuppa extra special.

More Pre-Fall Pretties

Here is jet another selection of some gorgeous Pre-Fall collections.
I'm just totally in love with the shapes, colours and materials that Givenchy have used. It's super edgy but uber chique. The edginess continues with Proenza Schouler and the amazing blazer, how amazing it the fur edging of the jacket. Need it!
Finally, Stella McCartney has nailed her evening dresses. I can already see plenty of stars lining up to be dressed one of those dresses for a red carpet event.

This Seasons 'It' Bags

This seasons 'It' bags come in all shapes, sizes, colours and materials. And need less to say could all be found in Miss Carrie Bradshaws, or should I say Preston's wardrobe. Especially the multi coloured Fendi clutch and the bright blue Chanel purse would not go a miss. I love the simplicity of the clinical white Hermes. But the Gerard Darel snakeskin shoulder bag is my personal favorite. A girl needs a bit of snakeskin in her life.

Balenciaga Pre Fall 2011

Balenciaga is one of the most forward thinking French fashion house. Their Pre Fall collection says it all....
The use of beautiful silks and amazing colour combinations is truly admirable and something every woman should have in their wardrobe.

Music

Rumer
Rumer is the professional name of the British female singer-songwriter, Sarah Joyce (born 1979, Islamabad, Pakistan). Her voice been discribed as the pure, soft tone of Karen Carpenter floating away on an evening summer breeze in an old Hollywood musical, improbably blended with the no-nonsense attitude of a feisty, London hustler. I heard her for the first time during Jools Hollands 'Hooternanny' New Years Eve. What a way to start the new year. A real one to watch. Downloading as we speak.

Missoni, Missoni, Missoni

I adore Missoni, and thier new add campaign makes me adore them even more. Featuring Missoni heiress Margerita and Leighton Meesters the add is vibrant, playfull and so colourful that you can almost feel the warmth of summer. Love, love, love!

New face of D&G and Versace mens collections

Daniel Whittaker, 19 and a plasterer from Liverpool, has swapped his overalls for designer threads in a bid to take the fashion world by storm.
Whittaker was hand-picked to become the new face of Dolce & Gabbana and Versace.
The fresh-faced teenager from was snapped up by modelling agency Pulse after his sister spotted his potential and sent in some photographs.

5 Nail trends to try now!

I am the biggest nail polish fan there is, I have a huge collection, still growing, and will definitely be trying out this seasons new colours; wine, deep purple, teal, gold and silver.

Rachel Zoe presents her new clothing line

Rachel Zoe gave us a first look at her new clothing collection. The collection, done in partnership with global supply group Li & Fung, has the '70's vibe we've all come to expect from Zoe, but it's more tailored than blousy or bohemian. It is reported that prices will fall between $250 for a day dress and $700 for a full suit. And while it's still unclear what stores will carry the line, Li & Fung would like to see it sharing the retail floor with DVF and Marc by Marc Jacobs. More to follow...
