The shows: Milan

Personally, Milan was this year’s winner in producing the most amazing Spring Summer looks. Milan had it all; the colour, the glamour and the bold stripes. Best is show was Prada, and bold must have been a key ingredient as Miuccia Prada herself explains by stating; ‘It’s a time to be bold’. I couldn’t agree more and couldn’t get enough of the flamboyant mismatched stripes in eye popping colours. And even though the silhouettes of the pieces were very simple, the effect was stunning, sexy, summer and ready to wear with a cheeky wink with the monkey and banana prints.

Gucci was another front runner for me. Frida Giannini brought the glamour times a million. ‘I pushed the accelerator on the provocation,’ she explains. Her day wear was made out of gorgeous bold block colours (notice the word bold again) finished with chunky metallic accessories. There were pieces that were hand crafted out of leather, beautiful nudes and whites mixed with vibrant satins. Whereas, the evening looks just got even hotter, more ornate and embellished and not to forget black. I believe that black is such a sexy summer look, especially with a lovely tanned and shimmering skin.

Others really worth mentioning are of course Dolce & Gabbana. Their back to basic collection with skirt suits and slip dresses, corsets and lingerie were draped in luxurious Sicilian lace, which were also lavishly embroidered with beads, sequins and rhinestones. And it wouldn’t be a Dolce & Gabbana show without a bit of leopard print and sexy black creeping in. Alberta Ferretti also had a beautiful full-on feminine collection. Floaty floral maxi dresses and skirts that were feather light and drifted elegantly across the floor were combined with raw-edged linen pieces. These key ingredients made Ferretti’s collection romantic but modern and very easy and simple.
